We Have Fun in the Sun part deux

Day 2 : Thursday 25 Mar 2010 at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. That's funny! The only time I've really been to the actual conference was when I picked up my registration badge this morning. Yeah after getting some sound advice from some good people like my boy Rich Medina, I went and did the opposite by actually registering for the conference. What a dumb ass. Oh well, live and learn. So after that short adventure, I went to the airport to pick up my main dude Mazzi. Me and Mazzi go back to my emceeing days when we had a group called The Ancients and we've been close friends ever since. Mazzi has gone on to be somewhat of a underground celebrity and his connections were absolutely invaluable to my getting my grind on today. As we walked up and down Collins, everybody seem to know him and he introduced me to many deejays. From there I was able to give them my new mashtape via download cards which seem to impress the hell out of everybody. In the words of the legendary King Britt when I handed him one " Now this is a business card!" We went to a lot of parties up and down South Beach without spending a red cent. I'm beginning to feel that my hard work is starting to finally pay off. What a great day! Peep the video below for more detalis.

We Have Fun in the Sun pt 1

Party people! It's been a hot minute since I've updated this blog, mainly because I've been preparing for this trip to Miami. After years of procrastinating and putting it off, I finally made the trip to the Mecca of dance music events, the Winter Music Conference! This is the first in a series of updates detailing my stay in the sunshine state. I'm down here mingling with some people, handing out some product (Oh, I didn't tell you?! The SpaceShip Has Landed the mixtape is here!) and making the rounds. Today wasn't too involved being that I got to Miami a few hours past my ETA (Thanks alot JFK and American Airlines) and I was kinda tired so I didn't party too late. But tomorrow, well today I got a full schedule ahead of me, so I'm a catch a few winks beofre I get on the grind again. Peep the quick video posted below to get yourself up to speed. I'll holla back 1ne million.

We Have Percussion

My production partner Morgan Wiley and I make up the production / performance duo known as SYNFINITE. For the past couple of months we've been working with this magnificent gospel / house singer named Karl Dixon. For our first song together, we decided to do a remake to the classic disco party starter "Love Hangover" by the original diva herself Diana Ross. But due to time constraints and prior commitments on all parties involved we've never quite finished the track and this has been going for some time now. Finally Morgan and I decided to set apart some time to do some serious work on this song. All the vocals were pretty much done, we just needed to do some overdubs. Morgan got in contact with a new acquaintance of his named Andrew Frawley to lay down some live percussion over the programmed drums I had tracked. Well long story short, the "Thing Hitter" came thru to Midnight Sun Studios in a big way and resuscitated this song back to life. Percussion, percussion and more percussion! Djimbe, congas, shakers, cowbells and drum kits put this track in the place it needed to be. Which is good because Karl has been pretty anxious to get this track done and I at least wanted the instrumentation tracked if not mixed by the time he comes back from Brazil in a couple days. Andrew Frawley's music can be heard at BIG DRUM. Oh happy day!
