We Have Dedication

About two months ago, I traveled to the beautiful country of Panama for Christmas vacation. I hadn't been there in over... well let's just say I haven't been there since I was a kid. My mother and aunt bought a lovely home together in the Brisas del Gulf section of Panama City after they retired from their respective jobs in the states and I needed to see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, I fell in love with the country. I told my mom that I was coming to Panama to take a breather from the rat race in NYC and really did not have much desire to see family I haven't seen in ages. My mother complied with my wishes on the one condition that we go see my "uncle" Bull who was in the terminal stages of cancer which I most readily agreed to. When we went to go see him, the person that greeted us was a shrunken shell of the man that gave me the nickname "Brukfoot" when I was a toddler. I needed corrective shoes when i was about one to two years old to straighten out my legs and since then Bull has always called me that. Looking around his empty apartment sparsely decorated with his meager possessions, I saw Bull as a man that was ready to leave this plane. In a dark corner I spied a stack of vinyl LPs. Being the record digger that I am, I couldn't help being magnetically attracted by their gravitational pull. Rare old school gems from Panamanian labels like Tamayo , Sally Ruth and Taboga just sitting there for the taking.
Long story short, Bull said I was free to take any record that I desired and whatever I didn't take he would leave in his will for me. My aunt reprimanded for taking the last vestiges of Bull's legacy while my mother advised me to take all the records now while I can and whatever I can't carry on the plane I should leave at her house to pick up at a later date. When we finished our visit, Bull looked at me and said in an optimistic tone "Don't worry, Brukfoot. You'll see me again." On February 24, 2010, Sydney "Bull" Brathwaite succumbed to his battle against cancer but he was right about one thing, every time I play these pieces of history I see him. Bull, you will be missed. Love Brukfoot.

We Have Liftoff

The Spaceship Has Landed? What does it mean? For those that know me offline, they know that over the past couple of months I've been in a transformation phase, evolving from a lyricist to beatmaker/producer to performance artist. My production partner Morgan Wiley and I have formed a production team / performance band called SYNFINITE. We make sexy electronic music with hints of hip hop, funk, brazil electro, broken beat and jazz. With Morgan on keyboards / analog synthizers and me on the Akai APC40 and various software programs, we have the technology to build a spaceship made of music. Well anyway, a couple of weeks ago we had our first official jam session at Midnight Sun Studios in Brooklyn NY. Posted below is a snippet of the session. The Spaceship Has Ofiicially Lifted Off! Enjoy

We Have Pix and Flix

On sat 31 Jan 2010, my production partner Morgan Wiley and I who are collectively known as Synfinite had a jam session at Midnight Sun Studios which is co-owned by Morgan and his business partner Andrew Raposo. The studio is home to a collective of artists and bands including Synfinite, Jessica 6 (which consists of Morgan on keys and Andrew on bass), Midnight Magic (a disco band that Morgan and Andrew play in) and Tippy Toes ( yet another incredible band featuring Morgan and Andrew). Morgan and I have been working together for the past couple of years on a few tracks here and there. We decided to go from a production team to a performing entity. The following pictures document this transformation courtesy of my good friend Andrew Williams. My lovely wife Sophie videotaped the jam session. I will post some snippets of the sessions in the next few days. For right now enjoy. Oh btw, a great to hear some of my music is @ www.myspace.com/pazer and www.myspace.com/synfinite

We Have Video!

A few months back I posted a couple of videos on YouTube of me practicing a live set on my Akai APC40 Ableton Controller. This is a work in progress, so you'll have to excuse the mistakes. The name of this song is called Lemonade Strawberry. More videos to come.

The Spaceship Has Landed

For those who don't know me, my name is Paze Infinite. I'm a beatmaker, producer, songwriter and lyricist based in New York City. I started this blog to make the world at large familiar with certain musical endeavors I've embarked as well as giving an inside view to what I do . The reason why I called this blog "The Spaceship Has Landed" is because I've always considered myself as an astronaut that is traveling through different worlds using music as a spaceship. As I evolve as a creative being, the "spaceship" gets upgraded and right now I'm performing a serious upgrade as I transition from making and producing music to actually performing live using cutting edge technology as a controllerist. So with out further ado, I welcome you to my blog and I will make an honest effort to update it as often as I can. Enjoy.
